Who am I booking?

Jefferton and Dimity. We are The Mountain Folk, and so whether you’re booking us for Photography, videography, or the combination Photography & Videography package, when you hire us you are booking US.

We shoot, edit and do all of our own admin and love to keep it all in house.. literally.. partners in life and biz, and thats the way we love to work. No other people are involved in our business and so when you chat to us you’re chatting with the people who will be there on the day to shoot your wedding. We will edit it, knowing that that amazing moment where grandma burst into dance on the dance floor and bawled into her hanky during the ceremony also neeeeeeds to make the cut in the edit!

What is your filming style?

Our shooting style on a wedding day is a combination of capturing candid moments that occur, in a beautiful and cinematic style, whilst remaining in the background of your day. We pride ourselves on keeping things light and fun and candid, whilst also directing you towards the good light, and giving lots of very natural direction to couples and wedding parties during portraits.

We won’t ever ‘take over’ your day, and make it into a production of sorts, we prefer to keep things relaxed and intimate. If you’re looking for lots of staged setups and cheesy poses, then we may not be the right fit for you!

Can we meet with you..?

Yes! We absolutely love meeting with couples and hearing about their plans. It’s a perfect time for both parties to grab a coffee or a cheeky burger and suss each other out, and to see if we’d fit into your wedding day and if we’d be the right couple for the job!
We travel quite frequently for our other business shooting music videos, and so can frequently meet in a socially distanced fashion quite close to your home.. If you’re too far afield, or self isolating / at risk, then lets set up a time to zoom and we can all be awkward together in bad light and low resolution!

Do you travel?

Yes! We classify our ‘local’ area as The Greater Blue Mountains and Sydney area, and also Mudgee, Bathurst & Orange. We are SO lucky to live in Blackheath, the perfect location shoot a clifftop elopement, and also to travel down to the ‘big smoke’ and out to the gorgeous Central West.

During non-covid times we love to travel and have been booked internationally, interstate and all over regional NSW. There will be a travel surcharge to cover accomodation and expenses whilst on the road, however drop us a line and ask for a quote!

Do you offer Engagement Sessions?

We sure do! Whether you’re after an engagement photography or film session, we’re more than happy to oblige!

We absolutely recommend them as it’s a beautiful chance for us all to get to know each other before the big day, and also to celebrate this big moment in time, with just the two of you present. It’s also a chance for you two to connect in a frequently busy time in your lives under lots of stress.. wedding planning can be a lot! Schedule in this time to reconnect, have a few photos take just before sunset, and then share a romantic meal together.

What is the average turn around time?

The average turn around time can vary depending on the season you book us for, however usually between 4-6 weeks for photography, with a few sneak peak images within 24-48 Hrs.

Videography is a little more labour intensive, and usually takes between 6-9 weeks for a standard Highlights reel film, and a longer edit requiring a little more time and will be with couples anywhere between 6-12 weeks. We can certainly provide you with a 15-45second instagram teaser if you’d like in the meantime though, we love them!

We specialise in creating beautifully intimate and cinematic films that are a complete reflection of your wedding day. These are bespoke. No two weddings are the same, and we treat them as such. We do not edit to a template (ever), and instead choose to focus on the natural emotion of the day.

Can I add to my package at a later date?

Yes! Absolutely! We hold all of our couples raw footage here for 3 years, and are more than happy to provide couples with a longer edit at a later stage. We have had a few requests for First Anniversary edits, and we absolutely love this idea! When all is said and done, these are the tangible things you will still have long after the wedding day is over, and so if you want a little more? Then we’re more than happy to provide! Give us a few months ‘heads up’ if you’re thinking about this and we can schedule in your longer film into our current client line-up in time for the anniversary!

How do I book?

Hit the contact us button below and drop us some details about you and your fiancé, along with a date / location. We’ll get in touch from there and let you know if we’re available and the rest of the details from there!

We usually ask for a 50% booking fee to secure your date, with the final balance due one calendar month prior to your wedding date. 2020 has hit us all hard though, so we can chat through some options and on occasion we can also offer a payment plan - just ask!

Can you recommend us some local vendors?

Hells yeah! We do this work full time and so know and love working with a talented crop of locals in all different capacities. We frequently chat with couples before they even book a venue, and so we can help you out with a bunch of names right from the start if you’re keen!

We frequently chat with couples and find out their vibe for their wedding, and then recommend locals to suit from what they’ve discussed, and love to see a whole wedding come together perfectly based on the local recommendations we’ve given couples. Total bonus is the lack of travel fees you’ll encounter and the greater knowledge of the venue and surrounding areas!

We shoot a huge variation of occasions and products in both Photography and Videography capacities. We have a second business, Jefferton James Designs, under which the majority of our music video and graphic design for bands falls under.

Weddings, corporate events, retirements, births, Family / maternity and portrait sessions and birthday celebrations can all be booked under us here at The Mountain Folk Films and Photography. Weddings are our main focus, however we can and do do it all! Drop us a line and enquire today.
